Heat pump hot water rebates and grants information
Federal, state and territory governments regularly offer rebates and grants for households to assist with the purchase and upgrade of renewable and energy efficient products, including heat pump hot water units.
Tradespersons and consumers are advised to verify grants and rebates eligibility with the relevant authorities prior to the purchase of products.
Federal grants
Heat pump hot water units qualify for grants under the Federal Government’s Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, which helps offset a portion of the initial costs for purchasing and installing the system. These grants, known as Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), are awarded based on the sustainability of the hot water system.
State and territory rebates
New South Wales
In New South Wales, consumers can access additional rebates when replacing inefficient hot water systems with heat pumps. Eligible installations qualify for Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs), which complement the Federal STC grants.
Victoria
Victorian consumers can access additional rebates for upgrading inefficient hot water systems to heat pumps. Eligible installations can benefit from Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) alongside the Federal STC grants.
The Rinnai EHPT250VM Hotflo Plus 250L Heat Pump Hot Water Unit is currently ineligible for the Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates Scheme (VEECS) due to its refrigerant type. A new model will be available soon that will comply with the requirements of the scheme.
Australian Capital Territory
The ACT Government funds the Home Energy Support Program. Southern Plumbing Plus does not directly participate in this scheme as we do not offer a supply and install service as required.
